In partnership with The French Alliance of Dallas, the department of World Languages and Literatures will be hosting Jimmy Jean-Louis, a Franco-Haitian actor, producer, and author whose career bridges Haiti, France and Hollywood. Internationally known, his artistic work reflects both creative range and a strong personal engagement with cultural and humanitarian causes. This evening with Jimmy Jean-Louis will consist in discussing francophone cinema, his artistic career and his memoir Héros: L’Enfant d’Haiti. Des bidonvilles de Port-au-Prince aux étoiles d’Hollywood. After the discussion on his memoir, the movie Desrances (Apolline Traoré, 2019) will be screened followed by a Q&A with Jimmy Jean-Louis.
