SMU startup founders are invited to apply for the 2027 Baylor University New Venture Competition (NVC).

The Baylor NVC is a prestigious business plan and elevator pitch contest where collegiate students from around the globe will compete for a chance to compete for $200k in cash prizes and in-kind awards. Competing teams have the potential to receive seed capital directed toward improving and growing their venture, as well as access to industry experts who will provide valuable feedback and coaching.

Previous applicants who have not been recognized as an NVC top-ten finalist are eligible to re-apply for the 2027 Baylor NVC. Teams may include both current students and recent graduates. Round 1 deliverables simply include a 2- page executive summary,
due October 1, 2026.  Refer to the official guidebook for complete eligibility rules. Any additional questions about eligibility should be directed to newventurecomp@baylor.edu.

For the second year, the NVC will team up with the National Collegiate Business Championship Series for the annual National Collegiate Innovation Championship (NCIC) at a premier sports stadium. Open to individual students and teams, this collaboration will give students the opportunity to simultaneously apply to both the NVC and NCIC by completing just one application. The championship will consist of four challenges: Presentation Pro (case competition), Quantum Quiz, Viral and Man v Machine. Individuals and schools are ranked and recognized.
