The Adam Smith Society SMU Cox Chapter is open to all students enrolled in a graduate program at the Cox School of Business. This club brings together students and professionals to discuss and debate the contributions of the free market to advancing human flourishing and opportunity for all. As upcoming business leaders, we discuss the need for free enterprise and competition. We are happy to welcome graduate students pursuing business and law to come together for thoughtful discussion on economics, fiscal policy, capitalism, democracy, and so much more.

The Duda Family Business Library is located in the Cox School of Business and provides access to dedicated business librarians offering classroom instruction, open enrollment workshops and reference services to the SMU community. The library collections feature prestigious research databases focused on the school’s academic disciplines. The Duda Family Business Library features the Kitt Investing & Trading Center, a dynamic instructional and research facility integrating financial data and technology into the curriculum, enhancing innovative faculty research, and teaching students practical finance and investment applications. The Ida Family Reading Room serves as a quiet space for student study and is adjacent to the library. The library is open to anyone with a valid SMU ID or Alumni Library Card.

Mission
SMU has established the Kyle D. Miller Energy Management Program in the Maguire Energy Institute of the Cox School of Business to expand the school’s energy offerings in the graduate, undergraduate, and executive education programs. The program through its unique curricular and experiential initiatives is at the forefront of business education with a focus on valuation, risk management and technological innovations that are shaping the energy industry. SMU Trustee Tucker S. Bridwell ’73 and ’74 and a consortium of donors established the program to recognize Mr. Miller’s success in the energy industry. Within the program, scholarships funds are available to students (see Kyle D. Miller Energy Management Scholars).

Each Semester, the Maguire Institute faculty select a small group of students as Kyle D. Miller Energy Scholars.
Students are required to play a lead role in the Energy Institute programs and initiatives, mentor incoming students and represent Cox and the Maguire Energy Institute in case competitions.

Membership Benefits

Scholarship assistance up to but not exceeding $10,000.
Priority enrollment in workshops and other Maguire Institute activities.

Our overall mission here is to provide an area for veteran data sharing, mentorship, and collaboration; be it transitioning, disability, schoolwork, industry, interview prep, networking, etc.

We'll post events through here periodically, but feel free to use this platform as an area to post questions, comments, concerns.
